The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro Lemes, has Omitted saliant points in his response to a statement by the Chairman of CARICOM, which is critical of a tweet.
In that post, Almagro mentions Crispin Gregoire’s concern about free and fair elections in Dominica.
The day after the tweet was published, Foreign Affairs Minister, Francine Baron wrote to the OAS Secretary General, on behalf of the government of Dominica, demanding its withdrawal and an apology for the tweet.
In his response he made it appear that Dominica alone had not implemented recommendations, which was a false and misleading statement.
Almagro has insisted that he has done nothing inappropriate and has opted to not remove the tweet.
