I made this comment about the dangers women face in politics but I think this comment deserves a post of its own as well!
Given the deplorable acts perpetrated against women in politics in Dominica the unfair and unbalanced character assassinations that we have witnessed by men on both sides of the aisle cannot be ignored!
We cannot say it enough! We deserve better.
The young woman from Marigot has not even gotten started yet but a supposed upholder of the law drags her character through the mud as if women can never learn or recover from their past mistakes.
And why is it a mistake or sinful for women to be sexual while men wear it as a badge of honor?
There is no equality in scandal. Women are made to feel ashamed of their sexual exploits while men are glorified for theirs. A woman who has had many lovers is shunned as a slut. A man is celebrated as a cassanova... where is the equality in that? And unless a person has committed a criminal offense, what they do in their bedroom is nobody else's business.
Shame on those who feel it fit to drag women's names and circumstances through the mud in an effort to make themselves seem better!
Women in politics need to stand up and stand together to denounce this onslaught.
The men on both sides of the aisle should be ashamed of themselves for this type of behaviour.
