CBI Programs Benefits Farmers/Farming

Growing up with his mom who was a full time banana farmer, Lenny Aubrey was no stranger to hard work and to the soil. Six to seven years of farming part time alongside with construction, he attended an Aid Bank meeting for farmers in the northeast where he was introduced to the soft loan for farmers under CBI program.

With hardly any assets at the time he couldn't  believe he could acceas such a facility. This changed everything for Lenny. This was his opportunity to become a full time commercial farmer meeting the quality and quantity of his buyers (market).

Under this program not only was the injection of the funds but also sessions on record keeping, farm management and the importance of staggering production based on market requirement among others.

In 2017 shortly after receiving an award for most outstanding young agri business  enterprise in Calbishie by Hon. Roselyn Paul, came the horror of hurricane Maria.

Nightmare for all farmers , this didn't deter him. With the support of various stake holders like Dexia, Aid Bank, Ministry of Agriculture, His main hucksters,  Caribbean Chemicals, NBKC, Lenny rehabilitate the farm and expanded.

Like all sectors across the board there are challenges, farming is no difference it calls for dedication,, hard work, a strong support unit and God.

Special thanks to the Hon. Prime Minister for briefings  and insights he shared with him about the farm, the potato slips from his own personal farm. Lenny cant wait to harvest this shorter more resistant variety.

Thank you to the Government of Dominica.

Lenny's farm is now a business thanks to his fiancee Bertilia Bethel.  The success to most men achievement is having the right woman standing next to them. Therefore Lenny is very grateful for having her bedside him.
