We have come a long way from where we were

STOP THE PRESS…OPPOSITION LEADER LENNOX LINTON SAID WHAT ABOUT THE DOMINICA GOVERNMENT—

IT’S A FIRST

Opposition Leader Lennox Linton had praise for the Government of Dominica when he stood at the podium to speak to Dominicans in Houston Texas last week.

Yeah, go ahead, clutch your pearls, gasp, faint—do all of that, in any order.
Linton was addressing the “Real Change—Dominica Deserves Better Than The Last 19 Years,” town hall meeting in Houston, Texas on Friday March 15, 2019.

Linton was dressed as quite the dapper politician in a full black suit, grey tie, with white buttoned down shirt and white pocket square.

He told Dominicans living in the southern US State, “We have come a long way from where we were with the storm by in a sense the assistance of the international community, the work of the leadership at home and just the spirit of the people of Dominica to keep on going, it has not been easy and it continues to be difficult.”

Since he took up the post of Leader of the United Workers Party in September 2013, Linton has been merciless in his consistent criticism of the ruling Dominica Labour Party, leaving no room for praise.

In fact, Dominicans in and out of political ranks have blasted Linton for finding nothing positive to say about the members of the Government or their work.

True, blink and you could miss the commendation, but for the record, it IS praise for the Roosevelt Skerrit government.

Wait...there's more news about UWP Leader Lennox Linton.....
IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM, JOIN THEM? LINTON INVITES DOMINICANS LIVING OVERSEAS TO COME HOME TO VOTE
Well…what a ‘ting!
Linton makes an about-face in broad daylight without batting an eyelid.
Leader of the Opposition United Workers Party Lennox Linton has issued a call for Dominicans living overseas to come home—to Dominica—to vote.
No, seriously! He did.
Linton put out the public invite when he spoke to Dominicans living in Houston, Texas on Friday March 15, 2019 at a town hall meeting under the banner “Real Change—Dominica Deserves Better Than The Last 19 Years.”
He waved the checkered flag as he underscored what he called “issues before us as we head into the next general elections.”
Linton told the Dominicans gathered at the center in the southern US state, “I am here tonight happy to be here with you and happy to invite you to come home to vote in the elections, all of you who are qualified so to do.”
“And by qualification I mean that you have not been living out of the state of Dominica or you have not been absent from Dominica for more than five years and your name is on the register and therefore you can make your way home to vote,” he explained
As if recognizing the call may be seen as walking back previous comments made IN Dominica stretching years, Linton told the diaspora audience, “I wanted to say that and to dispel the untruths that the United Workers Party Team Dominica does not want nationals overseas to vote in elections in Dominica. So I want everybody to hear me loud and clear—come home to vote.”
According to Linton, his party has been fully onboard with Dominicans coming home to vote except for one thing. “The only problem we have? The problem we have is with nationals of Dominica living overseas accepting money for the payment of their airfares and for stipends etc. to come down to vote in elections in Dominica because that is bribery and bribery is a criminal offense under the laws of Dominica.”
The Leader of the Opposition UWP has been condemning the governing Dominica Labour Party for facilitating Dominicans living overseas to go home to vote since he took up the mantle as UWP Leader in September 2013. In fact, Linton and the UWP have been blasted for years for wanting to get “goodies” from Dominicans living overseas through millions in remittances, barrels, or relief following natural disasters YET denying them their right to vote in the country of their birth.
The Dominica Labour Party meantime, has now become ‘legendary” for facilitating the voting of Dominicans, providing airplane tickets for nationals, particularly those living in the United States of America.
Linton seems to have taken a new posture if you can’t beat them, join them, realizing he may be fighting a losing battle. At least while speaking to them directly while inside the US.
