THE HAITIAN DEPOSIT LIE

Matt Peltier is maliciously accusing police officers of not accounting for the US$400 deposit by Haitian visitors.


This is what happens to the monies.

US$4OO is received and a TR is issued (Treasury Receipt).

The amounts collected are placed in vault at the Marigot Police  Station overnight  for safe keeping.

That amount is deposited in the Marigot Sub Treasury the next morning (on weekends on the next working day)  and a TR issued by the Marigot Sub Treasury.

The Marigot sub Teeasury deposits the amount in the Government operating account at the NBD. Account number 11500093.

The sub Treasury then takes the accounting records and deposit slip from the bank to the Audit Department for audit verification.

The Senior immigration officer at the airport submits all the duplicate receipts issued to the visitors on arrival to the Audit Department again for verification.

These individual receipts are reconciled with the amount deposited in the bank account by the Marigot Sub Treasury.

I can confirm that the Accountant General herself accompanied by the Auditor Finance of the Office of the Director of Audit were in the Marigot late last month ensuring that the procedures are adhered to and all funds are accounted for.

Any accusation of wrong doings is an attack on the very public officers who ensures the procedures work well.

No politician are involved.
