PROPAGANDA, POLLS AND PUBLIC OPINIONS.

PROPAGANDA, POLLS AND PUBLIC OPINIONS.

Face it- Polls can be easily manipulated to pressure the public to conform. You see some people are super desperate to gain power and they will do just about anything to gain or even to maintain their position. Here’s what I want Dominicans to know - if you want everyone to do something, you find a way to show that everyone else is doing it. In politics, strategist, political scientists, researchers, use surveys or what we refer to as polling to do just that.

One thing I absolutely abhor is when pollsters attempt to show a majority of those polled favor a particular policy, candidate or party basically dismissing and marginalizing those who disagree with or share an alternate view- it’s meant to make the opposing viewers believe that their choice is unpopular, their decisions are invalid and their opinions are irrelevant.

I tend to question motive and even the person’s behind the poll especially when they claim this process to be a cat and mouse game. I’m sure you can agree that your life is no game.

Time and time again we see these exaggerated and inaccurate polls yet voting results over nearly two decades consistently invalidated some of these polls, which brings me to ask certain questions.

As someone who has deep interest in the growth and development of Dominica and the advancement of our people, after attentively listening to Alex Pawol Bruno from #CAPA. I must question his agenda after unapologetically stating he supports the party that commissioned him.

Can you fully trust a survey conducted by a die hard supporter? I like many, have reservations and serious concerns about this latest poll.

The pollster clearly stated the purpose of the survey yet could provide no meaningful data to support his summarization.

When a specific audience was targeted and polled, and let me add working Dominicans and women were excluded for the most part- we should all be concerned. It’s quite easy for manipulators to offset a variable or two that can shift poll results in a desired direction.

Another question that comes to mind based on so many unanswered questions and those he conveniently selected to answer at this sham press conference is, was the purpose of polling data to convey the views of a representative sample of Dominicans or to engage in marketing tactics to sway views and sell CAPA services

You see we must learn to listen to what people say and even what they don’t say. Based on what was said and not said, what I can clearly say to you is that the poll conducted over that period was skewed in favor of the pollsters commissioned agenda. This poll is grossly inaccurate and the attempt to circulate these polling results is to force others to conform creating a false sense of “everybody else is doing it” mentality so now I must do it.

I am a proponent of meaningful change ... but that change must be for the better, leading to new ways of growth, performance and accomplishment.

You see I want Dominicans to keep their minds open and be alert - It appears that the political strategy being used in this case is what’s called the Bandwagon Effect. It’s quite interesting to watch some people who want to believe they are clever and are hoping that Dominicans will jump on the bandwagon forcing people to conform by using polls summarized to their bias or as a radio personality mentioned, is the pollster dancing to the beat of the piper. We know all too well that “He who pays the piper calls the tune."

You see political campaigning is much like marketing where the advertisers and marketers attempt to persuade consumers to purchase products and services by claiming “everyone else is doing it.” In this case, the commissioners of the poll wants the people of Dominica to believe that the majority supports them in the hope that people like you and me jump on the bandwagon.

What’s important to know is that these polls are totally inaccurate.

Legitimate pollsters would totally discredit these unethical and deceptive polls. It looks like we can all agree that UWP try something by creating a poll to change people support and force people to conform but thank goodness, the majority of Dominicans are smart and will not fall for this new deceptive tactic.

In voting, please do not let social influence be your guide - you are an independent thinking person. I’m sure like me, many of you would like to see bonafide surveys. Dominicans should feel insulted by these amateurish, misleading efforts to manipulate voters.

My best advise I can give to Dominicans- if you are not registered to vote, please go out to register- once you have registered make it a priority to get out to vote despite what these pollsters are claiming. Elections have consequences and your voice, your vote matters.
