EEF I WUZ – 10 Jan 2020
EEF I WUZ…
NEWLY RE-ELECTED Prime Minister ROOSEVELT SKERRIT, and with such a MASSIVE mandate from the PEOPLE, I would reflect on this long-time precept:
“To whom much is given, much is expected.” Whilst under my leadership, the SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT of our country is clear for ALL TO SEE (except, of course the anti-DLP self-denial fanatics!!),there is, of course, still MUCH that remains to be done (as indeed is true for every country in the world…)
EEF I WUZ…
A CLIMATE CHANGE continuing watcher, I would remind all our citizens, young and old, rich and poor, that while Dominica does not contribute as much as the big industrialized countries to the pollution and “warming” that causes Climate Change devastating effects (consider Australia just these last few weeks), we still have responsibilities.
We still need to reduce our carbon emissions (old vehicles, etc.) and to set an example for the world on how to withstand C.C. by utilizing all our skills, collaborations and RESILIENCE.
With our “koudmein”, we were once leaders when it came to working together as community.
And it is the smaller island countries like ours that stand to lose most as the climate changes and worsens and sea levels rise -- if we do not ALL become proactive!
We in Dominica have been having early tastes (the visits of ERIKA and MARIA…) of what Climate Change will continue to bring to us UNLESS ALL THEWORLD ACTS!

- These include MAJOR yes, MAJOR TARGETS like the international airport;
- the impactful RENEWAL of our capital city;
- the overdue BUS TERMINAL (to ease up PARKING!!),
- that new CRUISE SHIP HARBOUR/ TOURISM VILLAGE, etc. etc.
- There are, as well, the “old” frustrations, those niggling issues:
- the very low PRODUCTIVITY and SERVICE displayed by most public servants;
- a still garbage-filled ROSEAU;
- Electoral Reform and its legalistic complications:
- schools NOT turning out HOLISTIC well-rounded young persons with the RIGHT attitude for WORK and COMMUNITY involvement, etc., etc.
