Open Letter for Moun Sewye’

The following represents a major source of concern for the Newtown community, which for all intents and purposes, must be placed on the table by the new United Workers Party splinter group dubbed “Moun Sewye”. Another candlelight vigil, similar to the one held on Saturday April 3rd, 2021 somewhere on Victoria Street may be a good starting point to rally the community.

The official explanation for the untimely, shocking and brutal murders of Kenneth “Kamala” Birmingham, Allan “Papas” Bardouille both of Newtown and Mannison Thomas of Petitie Savanne is long overdue. In  October 2009, the community of Newtown woke up to the sad news that the bullet-riddled bodies of these three young men were found in a boat drifting some 26 miles off the west coast of Dominica.  Earlier that same morning, a fake and planned report was made at the Roseau Police Station that the boat had left its moorings in front of All Nations Bar in  Newtown and was missing.

A Dominican who was recently arrested at Gatwick International Airport in the UK, has been identified as the supplier in a major drug bust in Guadeloupe on Sunday June 2, in which six people were arrested.

Five Dominicans and one Guadeloupean were arrested during the raid in which 46 kg of cocaine, 60 kg of cannabis, three shotguns, a large quantity of ammunition and 91,000 Euros were seized.

French newspaper France Antilles-Guadeloupe, reported on Friday that on the same day of the Guadeloupe drug bust, the Dominican supplier was arrested in the United Kingdom

Two men were later charged for the murder and conspiracy to commit murder for that incident. Following an autopsy, the three murdered men were buried. One year later, the suspected murderers walked out of the court as free men as there was no evidence that could confirm they performed the murder, but most from Newtown are already aware which drug lord authorized the hit.  The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions had no other choice but to withdraw the matter offering

Currently, another highly publicized matter (unexplained death, this time at the hands of the police) is under active investigation and the group Moun Sewye is being mislead over the matter. The outspoken leader, and son of the biggest drug lord in Dominica, of Moun Sewye seemingly is very concerned and advocating for its resolution, while forgetting the hit called upon Kenneth “Kamala” Birmingham, Allan “Papas” Bardouille

The group wish to add to their advocacy agenda to make representation on behalf of the families of the many young men from the general Montego Bay, Charlotteville area who have mysteriously disappeared at sea, and without any trace or explanation [but we all know which druglord called the hit].

Would the leadership of Moun Sewye be interested in the unexplained death of a number of young people of the Newtown area whose activities were suspected to be linked with drug smuggling and drug abuse? And what about those who live a lifestyle of unexplained affluence? Would Moun Sewye’s sudden interest in the welfare of these impressionable youths raise certain alarms? Shouldn’t that be a matter of grave concern?

These unsolved mysteries have also generated stories about certain people profiting from several business and investments that have evolved from the proceeds of the activities that these young men were believed to be involved in.

These business interests range from snackettes to minibuses and purchasing of prime real estate properties in different areas of southern Dominica.

The deep reservoir of funds that some enjoy seem to be generated from the exploitation and sometimes death of young men who are used as traffickers and pushers, while risking their lives and their freedom.

All life must be important to Moun Sewye and they should not cherry-pick what cause they champion and what bloodstained tragedy they cover under a rug.

Now that the police service has taken some serious steps to get to the bottom of the cause of death of Kerwin Prosper, who died whilst in police custody, it is perhaps an opportune moment for the authorities to move and make a request from outside of Dominica for forensic expertise to probe the death of so many of these young men, including Kenneth “Kamala” Birmingham, Allan “Papas” Bardouille and Mannison Thomas. The people of Newtown and Petitie Savanne are demanding justice and that the big drug lords be arrested. They need to bring closure to this murders.

That would be a very good project for the leadership (Trustees included) of the “Moun Sewye” Movement. That new movement of mostly young people from Newtown has proven to be very potent in bringing what they consider certain societal dysfunctions to public attention

Certainly, it must be of interest to a number of young men involved in the Sewye’ movement whose family members have also disappeared and so they too should be happy to assist in the investigations.

Hopefully, the actions of Moun Sewye in this regard will result in justice for those who murdered Allan, Kamala and the other young man from Petite Savanne.

The people of Montego Bay, Charlotteville would be eternally grateful to know the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of their child (ren) are finally receiving some attention. An excellent project for the leadership of “Moun Sewye” .

Now that “Zar and Borbby” has joined them in the call for justice for Kerwin, theuy could also add justice for Kamala, Allan “papas”, Mannison, Kerry George and Jospeh among so many other young people who have simply disappeared many at sea. The talk on the block has a very good idea as to how, why, where and who is responsible. What say you Mr. “Jou Jou”? Are you interested?
