Many of us Dominicans prefer to push all the Negative posted by CNN and The CDC who never post any of our positive achievements. Smh. What a set of people.
“Since March 2020 Dominica has been one of the safest places in the world to escape from COVID. We have had no community transmission and although we wear masks in shops and public places it has been pretty relaxed. We worked with Government to ensure that we had great protocols in place to take people diving and hiking etc. Those who have visited have had a great time enjoying the island and feeling safe.
Not once did the CDC highlight our efforts and say “if you are willing to travel you should check out Dominica, they are doing a great job and should be commended”. Not a mention. 16 months of safe life for those who visited or lived here.
In the last 2 weeks we have finally been penetrated by COVID, most like the DELTA variant. 727 cases. Because we have such a small population those cases have put as the world number one in cases per 100,000. So CDC choose to highlight this in their headlines “Worlds top 4 most dangerous places”
I would rather be here than Florida, Texas, Las Vegas or New Orleans. We have no hospitalizations, no deaths and guess what?
Our numbers dropped by 200 today!! We are in nighttime curfew and Sunday lockdown until this is under control, but guess what?
We are still diving, hiking , visiting rivers waterfalls and hot springs because there are hardly ever any other people there, even in a normal year.
So lets see the CDC update their doomsday statement and show how quickly Dominica turns things around, because that same low population means that when we drop by 100 cases it a HUGE statistical improvement.
I will not hold my breath……The CDC is even writing clickbait headlines.
Wear your mask, get vaccinated and wash your hands.”
