MOST FUEL RETAILERS WANT A RAISE BUT DON'T SUPPLY THE FINANCIALS

The Association of Fuel Retailers in Dominica, advised the general public that they will cease operations from September 3, 2021 at 1:00 pm until further notice.

The members ONLY engaged the Ministry of Trade in July 23, 2021 in an effort to avoid the collapse of this critical industry. They further notified the Ministry of Trade on August 24, 2021 that our collapse was imminent without any proof and being an industry that is regulated by the Government, that intervention was critical and should be done with a matter of urgency.

The Ministry is unable to give a timeframe when this issue can be resolved because the Fuel Retailers have not provided audited accounts showing the claimed losses.  How does one approve an increase on the people of Dominica without proof by providing your audited accounts of the said retailers?

The Ministry has requested that the respective fuel suppliers provide their last 5 years audited financial statements for an urgent review so that a decision can be made in the best interest of all concerned.

We urge the suppliers to make the said accounts public?

Since 2014 the number of vehicles imported into Dominica has increased in excess of 30%, increasing their profits in excess of 30%.

The question is why are you losing? Are you really losing? Are you managing your cash flow?
