UWP Marches around Roseau in Support of Buying Domlec

Many years ago when the past leaders of the United Workers Party sold the shares of Domlec for a Nickel, a Dime and a Ride in a Blue Limousine the people of Dominica were very disappointed.

Today the leader of the Labour Party, Hon Dr Roosevelt Skerrit has indicated the purchase of the majority shares of Domlec.  Every Dominican is elated, including supporters of the various oppositions, at this move and looks forward to the interests of the people being the number one priority.

The exorbitant management fees in the millions exported monthly to the UK will now be a thing of the past.
Many are very disappointed in the lack of leadership of Lennox who is only concerned about receiving his monthly salary as leader of the opposition.

Most feel we need a vibrant opposition, some have indicated the recent fourth parliamentarians can do a better job.

It’s good once the standards don’t drop and once service improves

You say this like the bully disappears because he has a new daddy. Monopoly are always will always remain a bully it is their nature. It’s a good move nonetheless. Better is our Bully than theirs.

This should be in the right direction for consumers.

I think it is a logical and very strategic move, to have control of major utilities such ad energy and water. It may not yield immediate relief, put that utility within the geothermal context gives much more leverage by whichever government to really revolutionize energy generation and distribution in Dominica. The only way for geothermal to really bring the benefits is to also own the distribution infrastructure and then benefits can be transferred to the population. the govt would have had to either build its distribution infrastructure, buy it or rent it. They chose to buy it. They can invest directly into it, reduce redundancies in terms of line losses etc by building probably to 33000 KVA and put the lines underground and really build something good. My thoughts
