People’s Action Task Force for Dominica Justice Sets the Record Straight on Recent Protests

Roseau, Dominica – The People’s Action Task Force for Justice (PATFJ) categorically refutes the misleading narrative surrounding recent protest actions and arrests, which falsely portrays the government and law enforcement as oppressive. Clear evidence, including video footage, exposes the deliberate provocation and unlawful conduct of certain individuals, including former Deputy Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP), Hector John, who was seen taunting police officers and leading a group in aggressively removing barricades.
In this video you can clearly see Hector John UWP executive, who lied and said he did nothing wrong.

Contrary to sensationalized claims, the Royal Dominica Police Force exercised remarkable restraint in the face of escalating aggression. The assertion that senior citizens are being "targeted" for peaceful advocacy is a deliberate distortion. The facts show:

1. Provocation & Violence: Video evidence confirms Hector John and others initiated physical confrontation by forcibly removing police barricades, yet officers refrained from using force.

2. Lawful Enforcement: Arrests were made based on clear violations of public order laws—not "antiquated" statutes—to protect public safety.

3. Electoral Integrity: The Skerrit administration remains committed to lawful, transparent processes, and protests demanding reform must adhere to legal avenues.

The PATFJ condemns attempts to manipulate public sentiment by omitting key facts. The government and police are duty-bound to uphold order, and the reckless actions of a few do not represent legitimate advocacy.

We urge citizens to reject misinformation and respect the rule of law. Dominica’s stability depends on accountability—from both authorities and protestors.

Signed,

People’s Action Task Force for Justice
