UWP Members Deserve Better: Leadership Crisis Deepens as Rules Ignored

It’s time we face the facts: Our party is in a dangerous tailspin — and unless we demand respect for the rules, the chaos will only get worse.

Reliable sources confirm that Lennox Linton has decided — without consulting the membership — to appoint Hector John to replace Delbert Paris as Deputy Political Leader.

Let’s be clear: This move blatantly violates the party’s own constitution, weak and neglected as it may be today.

Four months ago, we elected Delbert Paris as our Deputy Leader at the December 2024 Convention. Today, because he voted according to his conscience on the Electoral Commission Act 2025 — a bill supported by every single Parliamentarian, not just him — he was forced out.

Now, without even respecting the basic principles of democracy and process, a decision is being made behind closed doors to install a replacement.

But Dr. Thomson Fontaine has taken a stand.

As the elected Leader, he has refused to rubber-stamp this lawless action, insisting that any changes must be guided by the party’s rules — not personal preferences or backdoor deals.

Here’s the truth:

Delbert Paris, an engineer and independent mind, was pressured out, not because he betrayed the party, but because some cannot accept independent thinking.

Lennox Linton, still pulling strings from the shadows, wants to appoint without authority, instead of trusting the very democracy we preach.

The UWP Constitution, though dusty, still matters — or else we are no better than the ones we criticize!

Members of the UWP, the soul of our party is at stake.

Are we going to allow a handful of individuals to ignore our Constitution and handpick leaders like it's a private club?

Or are we going to insist that the will of the members — the backbone of the UWP — be respected?

This is not about personalities. This is about principle.

If we allow this now, tomorrow they will replace the Leader himself without your vote, without your voice.

We must demand:

✅ Respect for the Constitution

✅ True Democratic Process

The UWP belongs to all its members — not to a few insiders sitting in secret rooms.
