Gregor Nassief Must Answer: Has He Faced U.S. Visa Problems Before?
The recent revelation that Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) President-Elect Gregor Nassief was denied a U.S. visa renewal has generated significant discussion across Dominica and the wider Caribbean.
While Mr. Nassief has publicly expressed concern about the implications of the decision for regional tourism and business travel, several questions remain unanswered.
Among the most important is whether this was an isolated incident or part of a longer history of challenges with obtaining or renewing U.S. visas.
Over the past few days, reports and comments circulating in both traditional and social media have suggested that Mr. Nassief may have experienced visa-related difficulties long before the current U.S. administration and before the recent changes affecting countries with Citizenship by Investment programmes. If these reports are inaccurate, the public deserves clarification. If they are accurate, the public also deserves transparency regarding the circumstances.
As one of Dominica's most prominent business leaders, a major tourism investor, and a leading figure associated with projects linked to the country's Citizenship by Investment sector, Mr. Nassief occupies a position of considerable public interest.
This publication is therefore respectfully asking Mr. Nassief to address the following questions:
- Has he previously experienced difficulties obtaining, renewing, or maintaining a U.S. visa?
- If so, when did those difficulties first arise?
- Were any previous visa applications denied or subjected to additional review?
- Is the recent visa renewal denial connected to any long-standing issue, or is it entirely unrelated?
These are reasonable questions that seek to provide clarity rather than speculation.
Mr. Nassief has earned respect throughout the Caribbean for his contributions to tourism and sustainable development. For that reason, his response would be valuable in helping to separate fact from rumor and ensure that public discussion is based on accurate information.
We therefore invite Mr. Nassief to provide a full response and stand ready to publish his comments in the interest of fairness, transparency, and informed public discourse.
